An Intern's Perspective: Book Lovin' in a Kindle WorldApril 6, 2011
In the midst of the current technological frenzy, we are all forced to face the foe of our traditional pleasure, the new kid on our beloved block. I am talking, of course, about the e-book. I like that this word cannot yet stand alone and still needs a dash between the two syllables; I find comfort in punctuation, so sue me.

On the Road with Clint GreenleafJanuary 26, 2011
I spoke to Clint Greenleaf (yes, that Clint Greenleaf of Greenleaf Book Group) while he was driving from Omaha to Kansas City. When I admitted that I was a northeasterner with less-than-stellar geographical skills, he informed me, good-naturedly, that the ride is about three hours long. Now, I would have to imagine that any long-distance car ride with two little tykes in the backseat watching Little Einsteins might be a little bit exhausting. Heck, just watching Little Einsteins for three hours would be exhausting. But, for Clint Greenleaf, this might be the closest he’ll come to a vacation all year.

An Antidote To The Too-Cheerful Christmas - from our UK officeDecember 6, 2010
Holiday Picks from the UK Call it what you will – ‘The Gifting’, ‘The Holiday Season’, Chanukah, Christmas, Quanza, whatever – December is upon us once again. For most people this means turkey, warm, knitted jumpers and fireside chats; for my family it means open warfare, a series of demented arguments, endless (and fruitless) shopping trips, penny pinching, frostbitten extremities and constant, expertly-delivered passive aggression. We’re pros when it comes to festive dysfunction. So I like to devote as much time as possible to escape and often turn to books (and, I’ll admit, booze) for succor. Here’s what’s on my reading list this Xmas:
